My journey with Reiki began in 2010 while I was studying massage therapy and Acupuncture. At the time, I was seeking ways to deepen my palpation skills and better understand the subtle layers of healing within the body. What I discovered through Reiki was far more profound than I expected. My Reiki attunement opened the door to a deeper awareness of energy, meditation, and the body’s innate healing potential.
Since then, Reiki has become an important part of both my personal growth and professional practice. It has strengthened my ability to connect with the more subtle energetic systems of the body while offering profound healing, clarity, and balance. I’m deeply grateful for the role Reiki has played in my life, and I’m honored to share more about this beautiful healing system with you.
What Is Reiki Healing?
Reiki is a gentle yet powerful energy healing system that channels universal life-force energy to promote relaxation, balance, and healing on physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual levels.
The word Reiki comes from two Japanese terms:
- Rei = spiritual wisdom or universal consciousness
- Ki = life-force energy (similar to “qi” in Chinese Medicine)
Originally developed by Mikao Usui in Japan during the early 1900s, Reiki was designed as a natural method for healing and energetic alignment. Usui dedicated his life to refining and teaching this practice so others could experience and share its transformative benefits.
During a Reiki session, the recipient typically lies comfortably while the practitioner gently places their hands on or just above specific areas of the body. Through this meditative and intentional touch, Reiki energy is directed where it is most needed to encourage relaxation, reduce energetic blockages, and support the body’s natural healing processes.
Reiki is often experienced as:
- Deeply calming
- Restorative
- Balancing
- Gentle
- Safe
- Nourishing
- Sometimes energizing
It is a practice that meets you where you are, offering support to the body and spirit alike.
What Can Reiki Help With?
Reiki supports healing across multiple dimensions and can be a powerful complement to both conventional and holistic healthcare approaches.
Patients commonly seek Reiki support for:
- Stress
- Anxiety
- Chronic pain
- Depression
- Sleep difficulties
- Emotional overwhelm
- Fatigue
- PTSD
- Surgical recovery
- Spiritual connection
- Energetic balance
Because Reiki works by supporting the nervous system and energetic body, it can be integrated alongside Acupuncture, Western medicine, psychotherapy, massage therapy, and other healing modalities.
Who Can Practice Reiki?
Reiki is a structured healing system that requires training, attunement, and practice. Practitioners are initiated through a lineage-based process that opens their ability to channel Reiki energy safely and effectively.
There are three primary levels of Reiki training:
- Level I
Focuses on Reiki history, self-healing practices, foundational techniques, and physical-level healing. - Level II
Expands into working with others, distance healing, emotional and mental healing, and attunement to additional Reiki symbols. - Level III / Master Level
Offers mastery-level attunement, spiritual healing emphasis, and the ability to teach and initiate future Reiki practitioners.
Reiki practitioners work in a wide variety of environments—from wellness clinics and private practices to hospitals, spiritual communities, and educational settings.
